Hey, I’m Tish!

Tish howard, MA, LMFT

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over a decade of experience working in the mental health field (even longer if we count working on my own mental health). I am a lifelong learner with a commitment to self-reflection and personal growth.

My approach to therapy is simple: Your voice, your feelings, and your experiences matter. You know yourself better than anyone else. I will prioritize you and your goals, and I will empower you to do the same for yourself.

I truly believe therapy has the power to create lasting change, yet I acknowledge that for some, there is a healthy distrust of this system. I don’t shy away from that reality—I lean into it. I recognize that I am part of a system that has historically marginalized the voices and needs of people of color. My goal is to disrupt that pattern by centering you and your unique experiences, making our time together entirely about what you need and how I can support you in the way that feels most authentic and empowering.

You can expect me to show up to our space as my genuine and honest self. When I am not in the office, you’ll probably find me singing 90’s R&B with my daughter, trying a new recipe with my husband, or watching a cheesy rom-com on the couch with our dog Kobe. A goal of mine each year is to read more for fun. I go in waves, but when I'm in a groove, a suspenseful thriller is my best friend.

What you can expect

From my therapy style, to the way I communicate—Here’s an insight into what therapy is like with me.

  • Think of this as me walking alongside you rather than leading you. You are in control of where to go, what to explore, and how deeply to dive into your thoughts and feelings. I will be there to provide support, encouragement, and a safe space where you can process and discover insights at your own pace. It's about trusting that you already have the answers within you and creating an environment where those answers can naturally emerge.

  • I prioritize clear and meaningful communication, using language that feels approachable and easy to connect with. I also encourage my clients to express themselves in ways that feel authentic and natural to them—creating an environment where their words and experiences are fully honored. My goal is to ensure that every conversation resonates deeply rather than getting lost in overly clinical and detached “therapy talk”.

  • There's no space for negative self-talk here—this is a place for building yourself up, not tearing yourself down. Positive affirmations can be a powerful tool for reshaping thought patterns and fostering a healthier mindset. By repeating supportive and encouraging statements, we can challenge negative self-talk and build self-esteem over time.

I wholeheartedly believe in your capacity to thrive. Therapy with me is impactful, compassionate, and rooted in trust and collaboration.
